Just started to research this topic since a replacement silencer is on my list of intended modifications for my newly acquired RR
The bike has the stock stainless steel silencer which , although makes a pleasant sound, is on the large side (and ,I presume, is heavy). So the hunt is on for an aftermarket replacement.

Would very much appreciate opinions, information, pictures , etc on the subject.

I'm in the exact same boat. I do not want "LOUD", I just want something smaller, sleaker looking, and ... this seems to be the hardest part ... NOT have a giant name on the side of the manufacturer. Just a good looking exhaust that hopefully provides some extra bhp too.

Guys - If you do a search on mufflers/exhaust you will find a wealth of information on this subject. When the R first came out their was a scramble for aftermarket exhausts (systems and slip-ons) . I think you can find (in past posts) members on this list that have installed just about every type of exhaust that is out there. If you have an interest in a particular manufacturer just do a search on it.
Bottom line is their isn't much to be gained over the stock exhaust, a few HP on top and a little more sound (not noise).
I'm using a ZTechnic slip-on, a little lighter, and a tiny bit louder that stock with the DB killer in.

my Ztechnic is nice, however it is a tad bit louder and pops sometimes on abrupt throttle roll-off. i don't like louder either, that was a goal.

it has a db killer core, which i tried out for a day, and it made my ears hurt. of course i got lots of attention, but that's not what i want.

it's nice and sleek and understated, you should check it out. it's a bit more hp but to get rid of the mid 'flat-ish' spot (i feel crazy stating my r12r has a flat spot) you must take the db killer out. there is hardly a difference.

I have the Staintune slip on installed on my R, if you'd like to see what it looks like my bike is listed in the Buy/Sell forum. You can remove the baffle or keep it in. I run mine with baffle out (I think it's more of a silencer plug) and its a little louder than stock.

How's the case clearance? Did it alter your mpg?

From what I just looked up the Staintune can actually wind up being a little quieter than stock...which is appealing to me. :-)

I've "Heard" case clearance was good in another thread but can't verify as I don't have cases yet but will soon. Not the full system (Made by LeoVince), just a slip on and have not noticed much change in mileage although to me I think it rides better in the lower gears, especially first as it seems less sensitive (Jerky/jumpy) to minute throttle variations with the baffle removed. Also with the baffle removed the feeback sonically helps me when downshifting/engine braking as to how much throttle to give for smoother engine braking.

I have the Leo and I'm very pleased with the look and sound. It is well made and has the clearance on the left system case no problem. You just have to adjust the pipes to get the correct angle on the case.

Looked at my oem can. The connector has a flange on which the center stand rests with a rubber stopper. Does the Leo Vince have that also?

Yes the LeoVince has the stopper for the center stand.
