Off topic alert! Bought wife '09 F650GS - anybody ride one?

Post by Mollygrubber »

We're (well, she's) awaiting delivery of a shiny red F650GS soon. Has anyone had the pleasure, maybe as a loner or such? I've read the ride reports obviously, but I don't trust those shmoes like I do you people...

I just rode one yesterday. It is in my garage right now. Loaner from dealer. REALLY easy to ride. Light and certainly not overpowered. Brakes work but not like the R12R. Low first gear ratio makes starting off real easy and low speed manuevers are no problem.

It would work great for that purpose but you'd be a little squished unless you changed the set. Also a bit expensive depending on what you're gonna use it for...

I bought my wife the exact bike see photos here http://dderrig.zenfolio.com/p527853654

I think with all the Farkles (I also have added the black powder coated jesse bags not in the photos) it's actually heavier than my R1200R! She hasn't let me ride it yet  but she loves the heck out of it and it has a nice sporty sound to it and she rides it (the bike [-X ) like a pro.

Hmm, my wife's is red too, nice looking bike - almost tempting for a 'backup' - if there wasn't an F800GS that is...

She's a bit freaked about riding something with that much power (she has a CBR125R to learn on - a newbie but learning quickly after a thorough course). I think the BMW will be easier to ride than the CBR myself... after the adjustment to the additional 200lb of course 8-[

well, i have both an r1200r and an f650gs, however my f650gs is an 06 so it's the single cylinder one, the real 650.

and i love them both, totally different bikes.

i considered a new f650gs, the 800, when i bought the r1200r but went boxer. i don't it regret it one bit even though i'm sure the new f650gs is an excellent bike (in many regards better than the f800gs in my books for anything but solid off-road).

Thanks for the input guys, I always do this second-guessing thing after a big purchase (not with MY bike though!).

S.O. is waiting impatiently for delivery, and is getting bored with the power delivery  of her learner bike (CBR125R - 15bhp?).

Congrats on the 650 twin, since it's basically the same as mine I'd have to say that the bike is awesome!
Must be nice to have a wife that rides...

In case you haven't found it, might want to check over here, not as good as this site, and I do get some weird vibes since the site owner also owns the F-series online shop for accessories, but there some good people and info non the less..

I had one while my "R" was in the shop - magic little bike, enough power, handles like a dream and has quite a chirpy / throaty standard exhaust note. I think your wife will love it :)
