Fitting Heated Grips

I have just bought a 2002 R1150R, and am really happy with it. As winter is now approaching, I would like to fit some heated grips.

My questions are, can you buy the BMW standard kit as an aftermarket bolt on?
Is all the wiring already built into the standard loom?

I was under the impression that all R1150R's came with heated grips. Maybe the fuse is out on yours. Do you have the two-position rocker switch in the right handlebar cluster?

thegaj,

Your 1st post, yet we know very little.

Yes, the US models all had heated grips standard. You need to fill out the basics of your profile, like country, state, etc.

His reference to the wiring harness as standard "loom" would tell me this is probably not a US model.

Sorry, didn't realise there was a difference between the US models and others :?

It is a UK bike, and there is no heated grip rocker switch in the right hand switch gear, although there is a blanking plate where the switch should go.

Here you go -

retrofit BMW kit - BMW Heated Grip Kit - £105 from Motorworks.

or Symtec Heated Grip Kit - £41.50 from Winding Roads.

Both a fairly straightforward retro fit.
