Warning light on - then off after a restart?

I have an '04 R1150R with ABS, I started it this morning and before I got out of my neighborhood saw that the warning light was on (!) so I turn around and pull back into my garage and turn the bike off, give it a few seconds, and restart with no more light. Rode it into work fine after that.
Any idea what might be going on? If there is a problem I just want to make sure to catch it. I rode the bike through a rainstorm a bout a week ago and parked in the garage after that for about a week without touching it. Should I have done something different?
Thanks all! I'm still a noob...

Help please....which warning light? The ABS one, the no oil pressure, the low gas warning light?????
I'll take a stab at one, the no oil pressure one. Did you check the oil level? Should be at the middle of the bullseye (window). Do not operate the bike if the oil is not seen in the window. There is a very specific procedure to check the oil, after a ride, A) Set the bike on the side stand for 5-10 minutes, to allow the oil in the oil coolers to return to the crankcase, B) Place the bike on the center stand C) Check the oil level, middle of the window after about 5-10 minutes. d) Add as required.
Don't know how many miles on your bike, but there is a problem with nylon ties holding the wiring bundles under the headlight. These ties were overtightened at the factory and with the turning of the handlebars they eventually will make one or more of the wires in the bundle break or fracture, which will show as erratic operation.
Good luck and keep us posted.........

Sorry, it's the one to the left of the ABS light - the ABS light was off while the warning light was on.
Plenty of gas and the oil was in the middle of the sight glass when cold.
Edit - and 8.5k on the bike. The zip ties have already been taken care of thanks to this site

The light (!) was steady on...not flashing...correct?
The ABS light next to it was off.
That is the warning for a brake or tail light faliure.
But since it went out...after a restart...I'll bet that your battery's voltage was low. The ABS system likes a VERY strong battery. A restart (once ridden and warmed up a bit) will usually make the light go out.
Is the stock battery still installed? This is probably a good time to start shopping around for a battery, if it is still the original.

I was having the same problem, I have a 04 with ABS as well. Your battery is trying to warn you that it's days are coming to an end. before getting that new battery, you might check the battery connections just to eliminate that as a problem.

That flashing "!" lamp is strictly an ABS system check indicator of battery voltage, ABS brake switch continuity, brake/tail lamp operation, and ABS servo module brake fluid level. A fault found in one of these areas will illuminate the warning light.
The "!" and "ABS" warning indicators are not connected to the bike's engine management system.
As mentioned above, if battery voltage is lower than fault level at time the ABS computer runs the fault check sequence, then you'll get the warning light. If you run the motor for a while and thereby charge the battery, it's often true that a bike restart (including ABS computer restart) will no longer fault.

I call that one the "OH MY GOD!!" light. Because that's what you think when it comes on. . . had mine come on at 0'dark thirty in the morning on the Beltway last year (my bike is an '04). Nothing changed in the way the engine sounded or the bike ran. Just the stupid (!) light. I pulled off the highway and turned off the engine, waited a moment. Then restarted. No stupid light.
That evening, it was determined that I had a dead turn signal bulb. Replaced that and all was fine. Any electrical hiccup will make that light come on. Check the basic electrics first (cheapest to diagnose and fix) then move up to the more expensive things.

Thank you all so much - I bet the battery is exactly what the problem is. And you are right about the "Oh my God" light. That is exactly what I thought.
Thanks again

Thanks for the great tips! I just picked up an '04 R1150R and had a great ride home. I then rode to a friends house a few hours later and was worried because of what I am now referring to as the "triangle-surrounded exclamation point of angst" <!>.
After reading through this topic, I see that it may well have been the fact that I (a) fiddled with the intercom system that was under the seat but not really being used and/or (b) fiddled with the brake light which has a modulator but was annoyingly crooked in the housing.
I had the above-mentioned "light goes back out when I shut down the engine and start it again" fix, but then it would get intermittent. I'll have to re-fiddle with stuff and make sure it is all OK, but am *very* glad it is not a major problem as I originally assumed!
Cheers!
