Just wanted to get some ideas, opinions and hopefully some pics of rocksters w/ windscreens. They seem to be few and far between for these bikes - I'm planning a trip across the states and I am considering taking the Rockster, but it needs to be set up a bit for long distance touring... The trip includes a Saddle Sore 2000. Not quite sure this is the right bike for that type of ride...

Personally I find I LIKE to have some wind - not just so that I remain "aware" of my speed - but also because the wind pressure helps to support me in the slightly leant forward position.

That said - I have a small "flyscreen" on my Rockster which quite by chance puts the wind pressure exactly where I like it (shoulder/neck level). Easy to make up from an old visor.

Nice pic! I agree, I'm looking for a touring screen w/ complete wind blockage. However I would like a little bit of relief from the full on blast... How did you secure the visor to the bodywork?

it's held one with 3M industrial strength "sticky pads" that I "liberated" from a previous employment....

Thanks Rice... A correction to my above reply - I am NOT looking for a full on touring screen - just a little relief... I'll have to look around for some "sticky pads"... Thanks!

if you can't find any - and want a permanent connection - you COULD drill a couple of holes through in the appropriate places and hold the visor to the eyebrow with a pair of screws. (I'd recommend some plastic washers in the mix too).

Oh - if you do it - use a DARK visor. Mine's clear and shows up the scratches and mess from 5 years of all weather use far too much - a dark visor would probably look nicer too.

Hi am new on this site but I found a brilliant windscreen for mine from MRA it is a German company but have agents worldwide When I approached our UK agent HPS they weren't sure what would fit so suggested the MRA Vario touring screen It fits brilliantly and is like a double screen which is 3 stage adjustable to your needs I would post a photo if I knew how to do it Hope this helps Give me a day or so and photo will be posted to HPS . UK as I promised them feedback

Works brilliantly, and cost me about £4 for the double sided tape.

As you say, it diverts the full blast but leaves some healthy wind in your face.

I used an old Arai visor which is not so tidy as yours, it has these bits at the side to slot it in the helmet. Feedback i got was: it doesn't even look bad on that bike" or words to that effect. I personally think it looks much better than aftermarket screens i have seen.

Stuck it on with "No More Nails Tape (Ultra Strong)" from B&Q and tested it at 120 mph - no problem. The two vent holes in the visor tend to catch dead flies, need to cover these at some point.

Late in joining this post, but I'm wondering if a laminar lip would fit on whatever screen you currently have on the bike (a flyscreen, if you have one). The adjustable lip may allow you to take on more air or deflect it, as you please; and, these are reportedly adjustable on the fly, so to speak.

Cool - mine's an old Arai too - but I trimmed off a lot of the excess (the locking mechanism) and the thumb tab.

I agree you occasionally get bugs in the vents - but the vents prevent a lot of buffeting (I think), by allowing a small amount of airflow into the low pressure area behind the screen.

Look up the Image gallery and you will see my Rockster with a shield that pops off with four wing screws. It is under the BMW R1150R image.Mark made me a fly screen, of aluminum, that serves as a windshield mount and a hot weather screen. It works well.

I have a Laminar Lip (US made) flyscreen on my Rockster. basically bought as it was reasonaly priced, and was the only screen I could find, where I liked how it looked on the bike.

Laminar are better known (I understand) for doing add-on deflector's for OE screens. However, this is a complete screen that fits onto the Rockster instrument cowl. I did have to get creative with the front cowl mount after it was fitted as the R clip supplied with the screen doesn't work (simply done with a Zip Tie). Also, the adhesive strip s to secure the screen are VERY sticky so you have to be spot-on when fitting it. I did find that, if you used the top-end speed of the bike much after fitting that it started to lift off the cowl, so I drilled and fitted 4 small dome-head bolts to secure it properly (to be fair, I think Laminar suggest this may be necessary).

The flyscreen works well I think. It deflects a fair bit more of the windblast than the cowl alone, but isn't OTT and doesn't ruin the fun of running an unfaired bike. I think it looks good as well.

If I can work out how, I'll try and stick a couple of pics of the bike with the screen on in the gallery.

I couldn't find a way to get a pic on of the Laminar Flyscreen, but this might work (I just added this photo on FB, and it's got a great road and scenery in it as well .......

This is my windscreen that I have on my Rockster. National Cycle Street Shield (about $125)
I like the way it looks and it works great at stopping the wind blast. I can vouch for the Rockster being a good bike for long distances.
I rode cross-country over 5300 miles across the US with no complaints averaging 350-450 miles per day at 75-85 mph with no fatigue whatsoever.

That's a pretty good looking screen, steelerman. I guess it's still short enough that you look over the screen and not through it? I'm tempted to get one of those for my Rock.

This is the OEM windscren. Not a whole lot more expensive than the aftermarket one. Looks better. No, not tall enough that you look through it.

Yeah actually sitting on the bike, the top of the windscreen is right at neck height .
The OEM screen Lion_Lady is talking about was 3 times the price of mine.... couldn't justify paying that much more especially when the one I bought works just fine. It really is just a matter of opinion.
