Hard for me to search to find out where the RT's might be but that is what i have and for anyone out there with one and/or if this question is appropos of the R's, how do folks like the stock seat in the lowest position? For me I feel like I am always sliding forward, actually feeling it but not really sliding much, but it is disconcerting.
Now to risers? Lots on the R's out there but anyone with an RT have them and how do you like them? The ones I am looking at are the MotoTech(?)and they seem to give about 3/4" up and 3/4" back and no cable swaps.
Sorry if these are too 'newbie' a type of questions but this is my first BMW R bike.
One other question, the previous owner put big old chrome mirrors from a 'Rockster' ( sorry guys but that is not BMW's best work) on the bars in addition to the stock fairing mirrors. Are there gps/radar detector mounts using these holes(actually they look like mirror mounting holes for non-RT bikes).
I am enjoying this board and there seem to be some very knowledgable folks here.
Thanks for your help and insights.

You might find that you can fill out the seat mounting point bolts with washers to change the angle of the seat? do'nt know if it's possible or not on the RT.
Oh - and Rocksters do not have chrome mirrors.... the ones on your bike will be off the R1200C series of bikes.
Re: Lots of R1150 R's but any of the 'better' RT's out there?
Thanks for the tip on the possible fix on the seat and yes I looked the 'Rockster' up and it is a fine looking bike. I meant the 1200 C or as we in the HD community called it the "B Rod".
Anyway. love the bike and this forum aint too shabby either.
Thanks again

Out of curiosity, when you say “… put big old chrome mirrors from a 'Rockster' ( sorry guys but that is not BMW's best work),”Are you referring to the mirrors or the Rockster? If it is in regards to the bike, I am curious as to why that comment would be made.
Re: Lots of R1150 R's but any of the 'better' RT's out there?
First of all I wouldn't say the RT is "Better" than the R it's all a matter of taste. As far as the seat position goes I have a 29" inseam and put the seat on the second position when I had my RT, the lowest one did feel like you were sliding down hill and slamming the family jewels into the tank. Put it up one position and it helps alot. I sold my RT and bought an R and haven't looked back !

a lot of people don't "get" the looks of the Rockster. You have to admit it's a "parts bin special" even in the best of lights.jas wrote:Out of curiosity, when you say “… put big old chrome mirrors from a 'Rockster' ( sorry guys but that is not BMW's best work),”Are you referring to the mirrors or the Rockster? doesn't bother me at all, I can't see the bike when I'm on it.

Good point Riceburner (I even find the looks unusual to say the least), I just found the thread title and rockster comment to be odd.

Sorry but if I may, I would like to push this dead horse out of the road. My original "this is better that that" was meant as humor and sorry it was not understood as such. As to the mirrors(which in my opinion are rather garish)being from a Rockster, as i said i missed the call on that but the R1200c is just not one of BMW'd best in looks and that includes some of their stranger models in the past(ie the K1, which I happened to like).
But the mirrors are off and will probably go up for sale and the bike looks so much better.
Inm y very short time on this forum I have gleaned some good onfo.
Hopefully I can refrain from my poor humor.

They've invented a place where all those riders of the (ugly) RT can go and commiserate......dbluefish wrote:Sorry but if I may, I would like to push this dead horse out of the road. My original "this is better that that" was....................
