the "new" 2004 1150Rt that I recently got has this tire size on rear (Michelin) has any one else tried this?

The 180 size is far more common than the 170 size and some owners have opted going that way for conveninece. Rim widths are 5" for the 170 size and 5.5" for the 180 size, really not much of a problem.
