The clock is the only thing on my bike that doesn't work. Don't know why. The little push-twisty thing on the back won't even move the hands. The previous owner had some kind of radar detector in the clock spot and told me that when he put the clock back in it didn't work. Where to start checking this problem?

Are there any accessories that go in place of the clock? I've got clocks elsewhere but could use a compass, or an altimeter, or something like that.

Once upon a time I also considered investigated a small LCD tv in that clock space!

Temp gauge would be my choice, I believe the 2 5/8" is a drop in fit.

Fuel gauge

Has anyone measure the resistance curve on the low fuel sending unit?

I'm not sure, but it's probably a microswitch, so there is no curve, just on and off...

Hi John,

maybe one of the cables is disconnected or one of the connectors corroded? You'll have to open your dingle to check it out. The clock rarely goes south. It happened to me recently and it was a pain to find a good second hand one. The new one from the dealer has a crazy price-tag (as if it was made by Rolex).

A good replacement would be an oil temp gauge.

Did you check the fuse?

As it is, the clock is a total loss and I think I would give it 12v supply straight from a battery
and if that proves not to work carefully dismantle it and see if there's anything obviously amiss
within the works.....you could also take the entire unit into a clock repairer and ask him to take a look.
I like the clock and would certainly replace mine if it failed.

There's a guy on advrider who fixes BMW speedo units; maybe he can help you.
