Hi first time poster.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the 12GS hard cases with the 12R?
Haven't been able to find any answer searching around.

I had an '05 GS and an '07 Adventure. The attachment points on both are completely different than on the R1200R.

That is a shame. I wonder if there is a similar case option that'll fit the R12R. Something thats big, clunky, overly durable, and doesn't look like integrated luggage.
Btw, your username cracked me up because I misread it and thought I had blacked out and replied to myself.

There are definitely luggage options for the R1200R that look like the luggage on the GS and meet the criteria you mention of big, clunky, overly durable and doesn't look like integrated luggage. Look for Mica tech, Hepco & Becker Xplorer, GOBI, and Trax Alu-box.
The Trax Alu-box and Micatech can be found at
www.twistedthrottle.com
H&B Xplorer looks the most like the GS luggage offered by BMW. You can see it here:

If you want something really outrageously overpriced, try here:

The H&B Gobi is made of double walled plastic and you can store water between the inner and outer walls and attach a tap on the outside of the case to access the water. Another plastic option is the Pelican Storm at twistedthrottle. Pelican makes cases that are very durable and Twisted Throttle developed a mounting system so the Pelican cases can be attached to certain mounting systems.
All the bags are cheaper than BMW's but chances are you have BMW mounts already and once you buy mounts to fit the non-BMW bags the savings on the bags is eaten up by the cost of the mounts. Unfortunately, there are no aftermarket bags that fit the BMW mounts.

I'l bet the "Jesse's" could be made to fit without a lot of trouble.

I was on one of the many aftermarket web sites and saw some extremely square luggage that was for the R 12 R it was $$$ pricey. Just keep searching....
