Cutouts on 2004 Rockster

I read before about the cutting out on some R1105's but mine when I crank it out to higher RPM really cuts out - almost seems like it is starving for fuel or air or both - any suggestions - recommendations? I have 9700 miles on it and in lower RPM's runs fine but when I put it into "lets move" mode, and go into the upper RPM range it really gets bad - Air filter is new, Battery is new (Odyssey), oil been changed/ On the bottom end no issues at all but when I throttle back I get some blow-backs here and there so it seems to get enough gas there but on high it is all over the place.

Any suggestions welcome

Welcome, poster from Chitown, use to hang around Elk Grove Village in the mid-sixties while attending IIT.

I would say your problem lies with the stick coils, they have a tendency to sucumb to heat and age with symptoms like you are experiencing. Do a search on the subject.

Anyone have any part numbers for the Stick Coil? Been looking on line for them and searched here and gave up after a couple hours reading

BMW part number: 12137680644

For the record, if you ever need part numbers, http://www.maxbmw.com has a pretty impressive parts fiche.

Could also be a blocked breather pipe on the tank causing fuel starvation?

Was the stick coils. Took the Sparkplugs otu and low and behold the left side was broken in half and was actually arking out to the Cylinder wall. Replaced both Stick Coils - its like a new bike - pops are gone - surging is gone and revs out to 7K not a problem - 100Mph in no seconds flat - awesome!
I must have purchased it (bought it used last year with only 9K on it ) since it had the other problems (surging and pops on throttle back) when I got it, so the coil must have been going bad for a while and now it got to a point where there was no missing it any longer.
Thanks everyone Bike runs like new again.
