No particular type of individual responds to my R1200R. Sometimes it's a Harley Rider, sometimes it's a Hayabusa.....I get compliments from completely different types. Car, truck, woman, man, children .... anyone and everyone. I have seen people walk around the bike in a parking lot and stare.
I looked at bikes for six months and weighed the pros and cons and BMW's motor made for almost a hundred years (1923) played a major role in the decision. Even though it was almost a shot in the dark ...I did good.

Every time I start my bike in a crowded parking lot, I get smiles when people notice how quiet the bike is. I've had people cover their ears when I reach for the starter, only to smile and laugh when they finally hear the sound. Stock mufflers bring :D

On Sunday mornings, I park my bike amongst several Ducatis, Aprillias, and other various marques. My bike seems to draw a lot of attention for some reason. One time, a man drove up in a Ferrari 599, walked up to my bike and stared at it for about five minutes.

I had a guy (with very attractive female sitting next to him) stop in his BMW Z8 (think about $120k now..) to tell me how much he liked my bike. I tried pointing out that his Z8 wasn't that shabby either, but he just wanted to know where I got it and where he might buy one.

They do attract attention (especially if they're black with white pinstripes..)

I get alot of compliments on mine as well. Some grief from the Harley crowd or posers as I call them. I had a rider on Metric cruiser last week in Wisc ask me what I was riding? I told him a BMW and he said I must not be able to spell Harley Davidson! I took it in stride and let them leave way ahead of me. Nothing more satisfying then reeling them in and parade waving at them as I motor by them.

Half way through a long morning ride, I stopped at a McDonalds in a small Arkansas town for some coffee and a leg stretch. A car pulled in next to me and a large, 50ish lady got out, stared at my r1150r and said simply, "Awesome bike". I smiled all the way home.

I was just in my local dealer's showroom the other day, and saw a new R1200R on the floor. Before I could engage my brain, I did a double take, thought to myself what an awesome looking bike it is, and then got a warm glowing feeling as I realized it was the same bike I already have!

....made me want to buy a second one, though, when he told me that it's being discontinued next year... I asked if he knew if it was going to come out with the new DOHC engine, and he said he hadn't heard that. I know others here have heard different things...

Well - yeah - the Italian magazine article with the photo of the '11.. with the DOHC engine.

Many dealers are stuck with a problem - they can't say "I dunno.." - it's just not acceptable apparently so they say whatever they think you might want to hear, or whatever they can to influence a sale or whatever pops into their tiny minds at the moment.

There is a term I use for them: "FOS".. stands for "FullOSh!t"..
