I currently have a set of Bridgestone Battlax bt021f 120 and 160 zr17m/c which
came with the bike. The bike has 116,000 km on it and the tires seem to have a blank area of approximately
1 inche centre width going around each front and rear. Other than that, they seem to be fine?
Don't know if they need replacement but when the weather gets better I will have thme checked out.
In the meantime, does anyone have suggestions as to possible replacement tires that would be
suitable for touring, normal riding and that would wear well???
Thanks

Michelin Pilot Road 2 CT or Metzeler Interact Z8.

I am on the Michelin and they stick to the road even in wet conditions and they last long (about 10 000 kms).

I have the Michelin Pilot 2 tires. I ran them last year and really like them. No noticeable wear in one season's worth of riding, and they never broke loose on me.

I too have had the Bridgestone Batttleax tires and did not get more than 6K miles out of them. Have also used Metz Z6, (10k miles), and Conti Road Attack (12k miles). Just put another set of Conti's on my 96' R1100RT. Great feel and great wear.

Z6's here, no complaints about 10,000 on my 99 R1100R, and the set on my 00" have about 6,000 with alot of life left.

I,m getting good wear & feedback from michelin road pilot 2s but when time comes to replace I will look at Metzeler Tourance. A lot of GS riders (who mostly stay onroad anyway ?) rate them well over here (UK) and according to the JUNE 2011 "RIDE" buying guide "the T rated tyres (T for trail) work well and generally last longer". Not sure if the Ts are dual compound or how the silica content for wet weather grip actually compares with pure road tyres, but plenty of GSs hustle through the bends in the wet over here.

Necromancing a thread here, but...anybody running Shinko tires?

From what I've read they're a Korean company that bought all the Yokohama tooling and formulas when Yoko got out of the MC tire business. The price is right on tires that seem to get good reviews. Input?

Never liked the Bridgestone BT's, lacked grip under cold and wet conditions.
Had very good experiences with Dunlop RoadSmarts under my Rockster, and will put them under my R1199R soon as well

Michelin pilot road 3 superb in wet and dry and will last a long time. Do keep the tyrepressures 0,2 higher then adviced by Michelin.
