Am new to the R 1200 R - just bought the '11 Classic and really like it - but not to BMW or to riding. Anyone out there use the Mud Sling by Machineartmoto? Experiences? Opinions?

With thanks,

John

I have a 2009 and put the mudsling on. A quality product and looks very factory on the bike.

I put one on my 2007 and like it. I road in the rain today and wasn't nearly the mess I was without it.

Many thank for your feedback. Machineartmoto says on its web site that installation is easy and quick. Any problems there? Anything in particular to watch for?

Hi There:

I've been a keen reader of these forums for months. The info. and the R1200R shared camaraderie/passion is great.

I'm fortunate enough to drive a 2010 BMW R1200R, Grey Metallic in colour.

Today's topic re. the Machineartmoto Mudsling is interesting.

I've noticed that several of you, have installed the Mudslinger on the R1200. Do your varying years of R1200's have ESA or non ESA ??

The Machineartmoto Website mentions that the current Mudslinger is only available on non ESA R1200's.

Machineartmoto will have a Mudslinger available for ESA equipped R1200's in June of this year.

Your thoughts and input are welcome.

Safe Riding to all.

cheers.

jeff.

I have one and it works great. Easy to install. I used some double sided tape (3M Double Sided Acrylic foam) where the unit zip ties to the frame.

jroad, No problems or issues on the install for me. The instructions are pretty good and once you lay on your back and see where the screws are it is kind of self explanitory. It took me about ten minutes to install and that was with dropping one of the screws and having to find it on my driveway at night.

jeff, Mine is a 2007 R1200R without ESA.

Really like mine. Installation was simple. And after riding 1100 miles on some wet roads, no road grime on my rear shock.

After having previous issues with a NN Hugger, I'm very satisfied w/ this product. BMWRA had a good write-up on it last month in their magazine, On The Level.

Thanks to all of you for your replies to my questions. Sounds like an excellent product and an easy install . . . even for me!
