Best way to remove a BMW MOA sticker?

The PO of my '08 put a BMW MOA sticker directly on the gas tank (unbelievable, how could anyone put a 50 cent bumper sticker on that fine paint
). Does anybody have suggestions on how to remove it without scratching the paint? I was going to try heating it up with a blow dryer. even so, it will probably leave some "stickum" on the paint.

I'd use the blow dryer and then Goo Gone.

Yeah, warm it up and sticker should come off, automotive bug & tar remover will clean remaining glue.

3M makes an adhesive removing spray made just for this purpose.

I would try some WD-40 before I put any type of solvent on the paint.

WD-40 does the job and is harmless (used it to clean and protect the flat black paint of my Rockster)

Let the bike sit in the sun for a good while to get it warmed up nicely, then slowly peel off. WD 40 with a CLOTH ( Cotton or MIcrofiber do not use paper towels they will scratch the paint) for the glue residue.

Thanks for all your replies, I really appreciate it! Was able to get it off successfully with the "sitting in the sun for a while and use WD-40" method. Worked great!
Now if I could just figure out how to keep from scratching my paint in day-to-day use... I seem to scratch the paint just from riding it, despite trying to be uber careful.

3M Paint Protection Film, as the previous post mentions.. The pre-cut version looks to be the ticket.

Unfortunately the people in the Fatherland use a rather soft paint on our bikes and those surface scratches happen if you use your bike (garage queens don't have the problem). One of the things I envy about our Harley riding brethren is the paint that the motor company puts on their bikes. I took the tour at the Harley factory in York, Pa and the tour person said that the finial coat on the tanks is clear powder coat. They don't let you in the paint room but from what I see from the wear on my Buddy's bikes, the powder coat thing could be true.
