BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

Hi, due to frequent oil top ups on my 04 Rockster (4500 miles) I have worn out the adhesive on the little rubber washer/gasket that you will see in the cylinder head when you take of the cap.
When I go to remove the cap this gizmo comes out with it, and is a pain to get back in again.
First thought was super glue but what with heat and engine vibrations, not too sure if this would be suitable.
Can anyone recommend an adhesive that would be up to the job?

Get an aftermarket filler cap, they have a set-screw that will prevent the inner portion from pulling out. if you are refering to the o-ring, get a new one, it belongs attached to the cap.

There are four parts to the assembly; oil cover (removable cap) and O-ring that attaches to it, filler pipe (insert) and its O-ring. I have had the insert come loose on two occasions. Replacing the inner O-ring has solved the problem both times. My friend on the other hand, went for the aftermarket aluminum version (with the set screw) and loves it. No leaking, no loose filler pipe and no water accumulation.
