Hello guys its been a while since i posted here.... i have changed the country of residence and am now in Germany... mother of BMW...
Somewhere in spring i plan on getting the new 2011 r1200r ... or 2012 if i get a good deal... want to get the bike as new as possibile but figured out that i don't want to spend more 12.500 euros... on it...that is my buget...but there is always a but... would it be better to pay 13.800 for a brand new one... spend 2k more and have it new ...or should i just use the money for equipment?
Found some nice bikes in my area for 11k with less then 500 km ... from dealers...i am thinking that 500 km is nothing and its still brand new... some of the bikes have 2500-4000 km...what would be better ? need advice from owners ...
Options i want are: Comfort package and Safety package ...Have some questions regarding the side bags... are the factory ones the best possibile buy for that amount of money ... ? or could i get something better aftermarket for the same amount of money...

I am no expert on accessories but it has been my experience that BMW Motorrad feels no guilt over charging for its brand. As far as the bike, 4,000KM with the twin boxer means the engine is not even broken into. If you can find a used bike with low miles at a decent price, just go for it and spend the balance on add-ons. The only thing in favor of the 2012 is that it is probably the latest iteration of the air/oil cooled boxer before BMW switches to water cooled boxers. Good luck in Germany.

You should ride both a pushrod (2010 and older) and a twin cam before you decide. Many riders feel that the twin cams have better mid-range performance.

I would also check out the UK prices, I think we are much cheaper on used bikes at the moment, an excuse to have a good ride back to Germany.

Thanks for that information... i am am gonna look true the offer that Uk has to offer... but as i know myself ... i've been looking at this dealer in Munich ... a very big one with over 30 used bikes and a nice service area ... and he promisses allot ... i mean ... it makes me feel safe if i get it from there ...knowing that if anything happens i can go there and he will fix the problem...
Buying a second hand bike is the best solution ... i am saving allot of money ... i am never gonna buy a bike without service history and whitout factory warranty at this level.. I am willing to pay 2k more for the new bike then buying used one without warranty....just me and my thinking...
As for the difference bewteen 2010 and 2011 ... i have read some stories that seem that the 2010 has more tourque down below... but then i look at some tuning experts in Germany and all of them say that the new engine has more potential when it comes to tuning... some of them achived some nice numbers... i will keep the bike stock the first 2 years , maybe a exhaust and thats it...IMO the 2011 looks better... i like the dashboard more ... so i settled for the 2011...
Plan for this bike is as followed ... buy it and never sell it... thats how much i am convinced that this is the bike for me...
For tunning the bike there is a company in Germany that has made a kit for sale... its a overbore kit wich takes the bike to a different level... HP:130 , TQ: 140 NM... it costs somwhere arround 3000 euros....for me it seems a little to much ... so much tourque is awesome but then they explain that the Traction control goes crazy in first 3 gears or so ... maybe some nice tuning and some cams are enough ... ...here is the link o his site : http://www.roesnerundrose.de/2010/12/bigbore-kit/
As for the side bags ... i have found something that i like and they are good quality from Touratech ... they are aluminium and have 38 liters... but they cost 900 euros ... so i am thikning if they are worth it... cause the factory ones are cheaper ... but a bit smaller i think 31 liters...

I also have a 2011 R1200R and fully recommend it! Try and get one with the most options/additions since used ones can be priced similiar no matter the options already on the bike.

You can try PIA Motors in Regensgurg. I was there this week and they had about (6) 2012 models, and a few left over 2011 models. They might work you a deal on a new 2011 model. http://www.pia-motors.de

I find that the boxer motor is more than powerful for street riding and can only imagine what the big bore kit would do! Thanks for the link.

Thanks for that recomandation in Regensburg... its a bit far from me but if they offer some nice prizes and good deals it may be worth it... I think that the RR has enough power as you say and only a sport exhaust and a tune would make it even better... the big bore IMO its just for guys ho want to have a real sleeper and keep up with some really powerfull bikes in the twiesties ...
I will take a look at the link you gave me and see what they have ... i am in no hurry to get the bike now... plan is for march, april if everything works out the way i want .... This is my dream bike and i cannot wait to get it and start riding some mountain passes here in Berchtesgaden and start doing some touring toward Italy and some longer trips...
