Hi forum members,
My name is Jordan, I live in the Seattle area.
Just this week I purchased my first BMW after over 40 years of riding.
It sits next to my Honda 996 SuperHawk in the garage.
Wanted something comfortable, elegant and sophisticated.
This 2002 R1150R is all of that.
19K, and in very nice shape.
Purchased for $4900 which I felt was a great price.
It has a nice Corbin seat and the System hard bags, though I like the look of the bike better without them.
Already replaced a taillight/brakelight bulb by myself... yeah!
Anyway, Glad to be here and glad to finally own a BMW.
Best Wishes to All,
Jordan

Welcome!
Word of advice..............there's a member here who will advise you to check your bike's antifreeze. It's my understanding that he is very knowledgeable and one to pay close attention to. A very wise man indeed.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
I am loving the bike and my local BMW dealer(Ride West BMW) was very helpful with my brake light bulb.
Had no problem putting the new one in.
Anyway,
Thanks again for the welcome!

Amazing motorcycle. The r1150r IMO really is a modern example with classic lines from BMW early days. I have thoroughly enjoyed mine for the past nine years. Enjoy!

Jordan,
I think you'll like the r1150. I used to ride a CBR1000 - it was great for the curves & track days but after I started doing longer multi-day rides it was really uncomfortable. Or maybe it was after I got old. Anyway, the 1150 has been a great all around bike for me. Really easy to live with, good handling / brakes / hard bags and decent power. It sounds like you're keeping the 996 - that seems like the best of both worlds. Welcome.
Jon
PS - When you say you've been riding 40 years, it made me stop to think just how old I am. 34 years riding but I started late (@ 20) So stop that!

Welcome to the madness Gunny!
I purchased my 03 R1150R about 2 months ago and am loving it! Doing an 800+ mile ride this weekend all around FL. This is the only bike I've ever owned where I don't hesitate to do long trips because I know she can take it.
Congrats on purchasing the sexiest BMW motorcycle ever!

Hi Guy's
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Wish I could post a pic of this sexy beast for you all to see.
I have put about 1000 miles on her and she is quite a fine ride.
Been super cold up here in Seattle so the heated grips are sure nice.
Best to all,
Gunny
