Gearbox and Final Drive oil VISCOSITY question

I do not want to start another oil thread. I am looking for the viscosity for the oil in the gearbox and the final drive. I have done a search and found some people use 75W-90 and some use 75W-140 oil. My Haynes manual says to use SAE90 or Castrol SAF-XO. The owners manual does not mention anything about the oil in the final drive or the gearbox. Can I use the same oil in both? At this point I am looking at using Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube. I just don't know what viscosity to buy. Any information would be great.
Thanks
Roger L

The Castrol SAF-XO is 75w90 synthetic.
The spec for the transmission is "Brand name hypoid-gear lubricant SAE90 API GL5"

I guess once you get pass Castrol SAF-XO it all becomes personal preference or opinion.
If your not going to use what BMW recommends then you'll have to go thru the information in the posts that came up in your search and pick what sounds the best.
I use Mobil 1 75/90 in the trans and Red Line Heavy Shockproof 75/90 (75/250) in the rear

The reason I asked the question is because I could not find what BMW recommended. My owners manual, written by BMW, did not list the oil. My Haynes manual, NOT written by BMW, lists the Castrol SAF-XO. So it is not me ignoring the recomendations from BMW.

Ok The requirements from the BMW maintenance manual for trans and rear end lubricant is Castrol SAF-XO. You can pick that up from your dealer, the part number is 33 11 7 695 240 and for around $40 you will get a liter. The BMW parts Fiche (Max BMW) shows 33 11 7 695 240 to be 75W-90. I think it will take a little more than 1 liter to change both items so you will have to buy 2 liters.
Price Change: -- It's now $47.83 a liter from the dealer. So it will cost a little less than $100 to change the fluids using the official fluid.
Bottom Line -- It's 75W-90
