so yeah, I threw my beautiful 2002 r1150r across the road, no one to blame, all my own work.... erk!!
I'm almost back to 100% myself now but where to get the replacement parts in Australia?
Dash, Blinkers, Tank, Side Covers, valve covers... ('bout time I added some guards

Any ideas folks

Rob, did the same to mine some time ago. Tried to get part other than dealer stock with no luck. had to buy from Procycles. Good people to do business with but here in oz we pay through the nose for BMW spares. Sorry not much help.

Motorworks and James Sherlock are 2 UK Firms that break BMW's as well as sell new parts. I've not needed to ask of course, but maybe one of these would have the parts, and even if you have to ship half-way around the world (if they will) - it might work out cheaper? Motorworks do offer to ship to Oz I think as they list the Aus $ for transactions on their homepage:

sorry for you mate! Is there no salvage specialists who sell parts in down under? If not your best bet would be fleabay USA or any of the salvage specialists in the US of A like beemerboneyard.com for example.

I am in the process of shipping a motor from my 1150r from the states the guys I have been dealing with are tops. I got the Motor for US$700 and I got on to good guys in QLD to ship it across. I will give you a cost break down once I get it to Sydney but the chap I was dealing with was Ted Moyer in Birmingham the motor has just arrived litterly got the email today.

Getting reasonably priced BMW parts in Australia can be a problem.
I've been happy with the service and prices offered by Motorworks http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Home/index.php in the UK.
As for second hand parts an example I could quote would be a rear shock for a 1150RT in Australia was going to be A$450, from overseas US75.
Because I had the time I posted on the parts wanted sections of a few forums and got what I wanted - at less than half the price being charged by Australian wreckers. http://www.beemerboneyard.com/ also do used parts.
So if you're after new parts I'd try Motorworks. Their web site quotes 2 different prices for each part. We in the antipodes pay the non-VAT price. The exchange rate between the Australian dollar and the pound sterling is quite good at the moment so that makes prices even more attractive.
For second hand parts I'd try Beemerboneyard or various BMW forums.

So... what is it you're looking for? Folks around here, including myself, tend to have parts laying around unused. I've shipped to Australia before. It requires putting the part in a box, writing down the address, and taking it to the shipper (USPO, UPS, FedEx, etc.) Amazingly, it seems to be exactly like shipping to Tennessee from Alabama! (Just a tad more expensive.)
