How often do you wash/clean/polish your bike?
My exhaust pipes are starting to get pitting on them. Metal polish does not seem to help much.
I've been told there is a form of ceramic coating available, but no one is absolutely sure if this will stop/remove the pitting.
Is this a common problem on BMW's?
Thanks in advance, Cheers Ty.

A mate of mine had the the exhaust on his old Honda CBR1000 ceramic coated about 6 years ago - they still look like they were done yesterday.

It's a common problem with BMW owners that they spend to much time worrying about insignificant aspects of their bike and to little time actually riding them

I do like a clean machine, but I prefer riding over cleaning. I will give it a wash after a rain ride otherwise I just use a spay detailer like "honda polish" or "yamalube bike cleaner" about once a week to keep it spiffy looking(usually on a sunday morning while waiting for my "always behind schedule buddy" to show up for a breakfast ride). I don't have any pitting on the exhaust but the head pipes are a crappy brownish color (I've learned to accept it). I also spent a good portion of a day detailing when I put it away for the winter. Although I'm not obsessed with cleaning, I do believe that cleaning is a good time to inspect the machine for wear or problems that you may miss during a "pre-flight inspection".

Being honest.....I've already washed my bike 3 times this year, Only twice last year.
I don't see the need. It will rain the next day after washing and as I use it to commute on, it gets heaps of crap on it on Freeway work going to work.
