Low seat option

Post by Fossil Fred »

Hi All,

It's been a long time since I posted here. I no longer have one, but I have had three 1150R's and I am thinking of getting another. Can't seem to find a bike that's as good :)

I have seen one for sale that has the "low seat option". Does anyone know whether a bike with the low seat option can be reverted to the standard seat height? With the stock seat the ergonomics really suit me. Maybe the low seat would too, but the bike is located quite a distance away, and I would be happier if I knew I could replace the seat before I decide to head down there for a test ride.

Thanks

The low seat can be quickly removed and a standard-height one installed in less than a minute. The standard seat costs about $230 US.

I think there are 3 options, low, standard, and high.

remember reading somewhere else on the forum that the low seat is the factory option in the US

also read somewhere else that some folks just bought one of those gel cushions to prop up the seat height

I know that the best investment I made on my r1150r is the Sargent seat . It does have a large price tag but well worth it in my opinion . The feel and the height are perfect for me . I have had the BMW low tried the BMW high and the Sargent seat has a height in-between the two . You may want to look at that option .
