Any body tried these tank pads?

The example photo shows them on a white bike, which is what I have, and I think they look pretty good

But what I really want to know, is do tank pads make the ride more comfortable. I never ridden a bike which has tank pads so I don't know what effect they have, if any. When braking to a stop I sometimes find myself putting a lot of pressure on my wrists and I wonder if these would lessen that by helping me to get a better grip on the tank.

I have them on my black R1200R. I have an old habit of keeping my knees hard in against the tank. This was causing the paint to scuff on the tank so I put these on and the problem was solved -- somewhat. I'm not 100% happy with the consistency of the color. The pad along the back of the tank is fine but the side pads are a different texture and their are different shades of black in the rubber. Not too obvious on a black bike but maybe a problem on white. If you do buy the pads take them outside in the sun and take a good look at them before you stick them on.

As far as the sliding forward problem that was solved with an aftermarket seat.



This shows the color difference at its worse. That arc is in the color of the pad, the pad is smooth.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I might not like them. Still thinking it over though. At least they're relatively inexpensive.

I purchased this and only installed the center piece. It stops the jacket zippers from rubbing. Not sure if the kit would work like you want....

I would like just the center piece or better yet a clear 'protector' cut to fit the back of my tank.

I put the same pads on my bike mainly to prevent scuffs but did not use the center pad supplied in the R1200R kit as I did not like the way it fit with the factory tankbag. Found their universal center pad was much better. Have had them on the bike for 5k and very satisfied.
