Bar end mirrors aren't everyone's cup of tea, but if you are interested here is a fairly easy way to mount them on an R.
The problem of course is the BMW bar weights mean that the mirrors won't go inside the bar and the taper on the weights means that the collar doesn't fit properly as an alternative mounting method without machining the bar weights....
Or so I thought at first.
The kit has two washer type things in it, one is aluminium and one is rubber, they are both the size of the outside diameter of the mirror collar. So good thus far. I removed the bar weight screw and found this bolt in my parts bin. It is a standard 6mm hex with a 35mm shank. I'm not sure where it came from but no doubt smarter folk than me will identify it immediately. I have attached a pic if anyone wants to have a crack at this.
- Put the end weight back in place.
- Put a very thin strip of anti-slip mat on the lowest point of the weight.
- Place the bar mirror collar over the weight, using the anti slip mat for added grip. (An O ring might also work.)
- Put the rubber "washer" against the end of the weight.
- Put the aluminium "washer agains the end of the weight
- Add a dab of anti seize to the 6mm bolt, slide it thought the washers and weights and tighten it all back up.
It ends up looking like this:

But here is the best bit.......
Rizoma Mirrors are 99 euros each (Youch !)
The one's I got are $40 a pair (including shipping!) At that price I am going to buy another set as spares. I bought them from eBay. If you can tell the difference you have go waaay better eyes than me, and the price difference is astounding. Everything except the 6mm stainless hex bolt came with the mirrors, and the bolts would not be screamingly expensive if you had to buy them.
If you decide you don't like them , take them off, put the original bar weight screws back on, and it has cost $40 and about 20 mins.
