Throttle Body Synch

Throttle Body Synch
I'm doing a throttle body synch on my '02 R1150. The Clymer manual says that only a BMW dealership can do it because they use some kind of MoBiTech system or something like that. There isn't even a procedure for doing it in the Clymer manual except for the R1100. Now I know some of your guys have done TB synchs on your R1150 bikes and I was wondering if you can direct me to a decent writeup on the subject. I have a dual port CarbTune pro for measuring vacuum so I'm good to go on equipment. Just don't want to screw things up.

Jump on to the Adventure Riders site. Right down the bottom of the page is the 'Hall of Wisdom'. It contains all you need to know. The 'tool' can be a Twinmax, Carbmate, Manometer, or Synchroniser. We all have our preferences.
Better still, here is the link: http://advwisdom.hogranch.com/Wisdom/
There are a couple of links to what you desire. It isn't hard. It isn't a 'dealer-only' job. Cheers.

Re: Throttle Body Synch
Doing a throttle body sync is a walk in the park once you've done it a couple times. Not only that, but you or I can do a better job than the dealer would. The dealer will get them 'close enough', my preference is to get them synced in perfect balance with my harmonizer. This all holds true with your valve adjustments, the dealer will get them close enough as well. A good valve adjustment takes more time than the dealer wants to spend, so they get it close and send your bike out the door. Once you get used to the procedure you'll be able to do a valve adjustment and throttle body sync in <1 hour.

Re: Throttle Body Synch
Hi Roxtr, where can I find the Harmonizer to purchase?
I haven't synched my bike in 3 years; yeah, I know, I'm a terrible owner. Just haven't been riding it that much to warrant it but now I really want to get things going.
Thanks
Charles

Re: Throttle Body Synch
I bought mine from the fellow that created it over in ADVrider.com, here's a link to his thread: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=701625. The downside is unfortunately he's had some personal issues and does not currently have any for sale. He's stated he may begin selling the units again in the near future but it's all up in the air at the moment.
