I was removing the solenoid that is connected to the canister, and when I cut the ziptie holding the plug to the frame, this long piece began to hang down. Never knew it was even back in there. It has a rubber tip on it that is recessed, and it looks like a bolt goes into it, and it goes back toward the front of the bike above the tranny somewhere. Could it be part of an abs setup and I don't have abs?

Well, I think I got an answer...bleed the clutch fluid from there?

Yep.
To bleed clutch fluid - unscrew & remove the centre grub screw with an Allen key, screw in a clutch bleed nipple (or speed bleeder).
As you continue to screw it in the clutch bleed nipple depresses a ball check valve which allows the clutch fluid to flow.
For a pictorial walk through of a clutch bleed see http://www.beachbus.net/BMW/diy/Bleed_Clutch.htm
