Well, after a month long wait, on a cold and snowy New Years Day evening, my new to me 2011 Candy Apple Red R1200R finally made it to my home.

She appears to have arrived as advertised in near showroom condition but without an owners manual. I will have to call the dealer about that. Otherwise she is as a beauty.

Of course I went to fire it up right away but all I got was a groan instead of a crank. OK she is a bit frozen, Plug in a Battery Tender and get the space heater. I aim the space heater right on the left cylinder (see last pic above) and after 10 minutes or so, I do the same for the right, and then repeat for each side. This time she fires right up and settles into a nice idle. She sounds nice and smooth with a nicer exhaust note than my departed 1150GS. I can't wait to ride her and hear her on the road, especially the bark after the butterfly valve opens. But for now in the middle of winter, I will have to settle for installing a few accessories, waxing her and just admiring her beauty.

Nice bike and color!

So you bought it sight unseen? Would you do it again? I'm considering the same...

Congrats again on a nice ride!

Nice! I like the Vespa hiding in the background too. I have an '06 GTS keeping my R company in my garage.

Great minds think alike! Your states ridden map would look a lot like mine if I knew how to post one. Well, except for the Alaska part.

Nice. I wish they had red in 2009. My question is: how did you get the Army to deliver your bike?

Just curious about the transporter, Army on the outside, bikes on the inside.

Not the Army. My guess is he sold the side of his rig for advertising.

Actually the guy I found to transport my bike was pretty cool. A friend in the motorcycle business reccomended him. His name is Dan Klem of D&K Transport. He specializes in the transport of bikes and cars. The really cool part is that he is an enthusiast and collector himself and has a snowmobile and motorcycle museum in NJ. Check out his website: http://snowmobilebarn.com/d-k-service/ I would think if you are in the area it would be a worthwhile stop.

Congratulations!
I also picked up my (new to me) '08 R1200R at the end of October and brought it home to Northern NY.
I did get to put about 300 miles on it before the snow.
I go out and look at it in the garage, and have been accessorizing like a fool...
Think Spring!!!

Actually it is a pretty cool place, I never knew they made that many different kinds of snowmobiles, and worth a stop. It's also located in the only part of New Jersey worth riding in. IMHO
