rattle

I hear a rattling noise when I am riding around on surface streets. It is coming from either the gauges, headlamp, or turn signals. I have checked everything and it seems tight. I can't seem to find anything loose. Has anybody experienced this before?

I had a consistent rattle with my '02 R from the day I took it home, the bike was back at the dealer for the 600 mile check to keep the warranty in effect and again to replace a final drive output seal for leaking under warranty .

Both times I told them of a rattle at slow speeds, they could never find the problem .

At 30,000 miles I replaced the fuel filter in the fuel tank .

When I removed the filter, I found a wear mark on the rolled crimped end of the filter, it was rattling against a part in the fuel tank and almost wore all the way through the filter to cause a leak .

It only rattled when the fuel level got low enough to expose the contact area, on a full tank, it wouldn't rattle .

I moved the fuel filter outside the tank then, no rattle since .

When I first purchased my 02r with 14k miles on it, the bolts securing the "beak" was loose and it rattled every time I hit a bump.
