Has anyone ever tried or seen a k1200rs front fender on an RR? The forks are the same it should fit, i thought i'd get used to the "beak" but i haven't, it's GOT to go.

I know i'll get dumped on for this one.

There have been some posts on that subject in the past, with pics. Some beakster owners wish to de-beak the beakster. It changes the esthetic mojo, for sure. Not sure if those threads are archived.

If you go to the buy/sell/ trade section, there was a black R1150R with a bunch of mods for sale that had a beak-ectomy, and there are a bunch of pics.

When I first got my RR I wanted to loose the beak and put one on from a R1100S...but soon found that it will not fit our fork.

This was before the Rockster came out....and then after seeing the Rockster I wasn't sure I like seeing that ball-joint thingie.

I used to think the beak looked a bit odd...side on ok...but from the front it was like a big triangle box...pooie!.. :smt087

Not long ago a friend lent me his Ducati front gard to try...he had put a nice carbon job on his.

I could have painted it black and made it fit...but I think it looked even more 'odd' than the beak....check out my pics.

I don't like the look of the RT or KRS gard...so I'll be sticking with the beak...just not look at it front on too much....I don't mind it now.

proof.......
that it can be done.

He tried to sell the whole mod' a couple months ago.
I don't know if he still has it or if he succeeded in selling it......
but it looked GOOD!

Blasphemy.

I beg to differ,
but cute little leather
Pony Express saddlebags
on a finely crafted Bavarian motorcycle......

Now THAT's "blasphemy"
and sooooo wrong.

(On the other hand, where can I get some just like 'em? I'm buying a Bonneville, and about the only kind of bags that look the part on an Old School Bonnie, are like those on your Roadster. Seriously.)

The problem is the distance between the bottom of the headlight and the top of the front fender. What the beak does is reduce that "empty" space - bringing the front end components into balance. This is the main problem with the rockster.

So unless your going to lower the headlight, the beak is the best "aesthetic" solution.

Remove the beak and you will not be able to attend any future beakster bash's.

Just kidding.

I got this picture from the R1150R.org page in the "user's rides" section page two. The owner's name is Jack. I'm not sure if he participates anymore, but the caption says that this is a K1200RS front fender. Previous posts on the old board said that it bolts right up.

dilligaf;
Sorry to disappoint you, but I have already expressed my feelings for the MT-01 that I pick up in September.

By they way, don't take my word on the fit up. I really do remember that the previous poters saud tthat the thing bolts right in place, but I have no personal experience.

I got the picture from page two of the "users rides" section of http://www.r1150r.org

The picture is the top left item. There is a link to Jack's e-mail address. you might want to try and contact him.

Good luck!

Santa Cruz County BMW has it for $200. I think it looks really good.

Crousos... Thanks for the pic, i have seen that but i think i like the look of the k1200rs fender as in New2's photo. I know removing the "beak" is removing part of the essence of this machine, i honestly would like to know what everyone on this board thinks of that photo with that fender. All opinions appreciated.

dilligaf,

That would be my only other choice, do you know the cost? Can you get it painted from the dealer?

IMO, this fender makes the fork tubes look too long...

But if you like it, that's all that matters, right? Who cares what others might think. I bolted pieces from various bikes onto mine - GS, LT, KRS, RRS - it made me happy...

Well i did it( sorry DJ) the beakectomy is complete and i think it looks great. My thanks to CROUSOS for the inspiration and info. R4R&R... i kept the stock beak, if i fashion a chin strap and wear it as a helmet( probably cost more than $80 though) can i attend the next beakster bash?
