BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

Hi from Genoa, Italy.

After a short break without a motorbike, i have bought a 2001 R1150R and a big smile is back on my face... :-D

Previously I owned: Honda NSR125 (my first love ), BMW R45 (slooooow...), BMW R65, Yamaha TT600 (i loved it), Honda XL600 (a bulldozer), BMW K100 Martini edition (the hightway interceptor), Kawasaki Z350 1977 (little café racer!), BMW R80ST (great bike ), Guzzi Breva 850 (oh God... a beauty with superbe handling but... how can i say... a "problematic" bike?... ), Customized Triumph Bonneville (fun & beautifull, i rode this baby for 4 years, a record for me!) + a lot of scooters (from old piaggio "ciao" and vespas to the last Beverly 350TS)

My next steps are:
- buy used hard side cases
- change clock with oil temperature & pressure (how to do that? i ll search in the forum)
- change exhaust

Future steps...:
- suspensions
- maybe a radical cafè racer modification

A common misconception. After many years of saying this----BMW finally admitted the truth. Look at the new RT and GS. Radiators with antifreeze!

Really? But on the 01 - 03, there isn't a water pump.

You need one to circulate the antifreeze.

For an oil cooler , you can take the pressure needed off the oil pump.

My guess is the 150cc pushed the oil temp over the 1100cc motor

If memory serves, the R1100S I toured Europe with didn't have an oil cooler

Oilheads all have oil coolers...


And don't worry about Wayne's radiator coolant craziness. It's just part of the R1150R board culture!

Welcome...Great bike...It was a good choice that you get back to a BMW bike
