Im sorry lads But the very nearly has turned into an Ihave swapped for a tiger.

It was a hard choice to make but I liked being up higher & the engine has a lot more poke than the r & gs I tried & in the end it won my heart.

Im sorry to see the R go & if I could have afforded it I woul;d have kept the R too but I cant .

I hope you will still welcome me on the board as Ive lots of good things too say about the R

Let us know when you've peeled off the tiger "stripes". Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Just don't test-drive a GS1200 after you've lived with that for a while.

I've never ridden one, but they're a cool lookin' bike! Enjoy it!

Kind of like a Rockster GS. I'd keep the stripes; those stripes on the fairing give her a mad look.

Home brew fuel injection & ignition, burns methyl alcohol, makes nearly 250 rear wheel HP. Homemade chassis, runs in partially streamlined class. Has a record at 224MPH.

Congrats on the Tiger. It's an ugly little thing, and I'm glad it has found a good home. Seriously, I hear it's a great bike and if I could only have one bike, I would consider a Tiger of a Ducati Multistrada.

The day I ended up buying the Rock I test rode everything they'd let me try at the Dealer's. I was pretty interested in the Tiger because it was a pretty sweet deal with the bags and all, and Yeah, those stripes were pretty cool.
But the Damn Thing was too tall for my stumpy li'l legs...I dropped it in the parking lot while I was pulling out! I had to tap the front brake as I began to turn and I simply tipped over. Everybody and their kid brother came running over to help whether or not I needed any, and I did $180 worth of damage to the RH side. Arrrr...@#$%#!!!
Instead of slinking away with a bag over my head like I wanted to I sucked it up and completed my mission - I bought the Rockster as I'd intended to from the beginning.
Apparently for some of us, some things were Meant to Be
and others just weren't .

Congrats Mal on your purchase. I test rode a Speed triple, and a Sprint
at Americade this year. I gotta tell you out of ALL the bikes I've ridden over the years, both of these were absolutly awesome! I may get someone fired up on this board, but the Quality of both bikes was superior
to anything I've been on. Also by the lines @ the demo trailer, Triumph must be doing something very right. I've never felt a transmission work so smoothly and quietly. I bought the Rockster hoping for this kind of quality, but not so pleased. Unfortunatly, I will have to take a $ 5000.00 loss to trade for a triumph. So I'll make the best of it & ride the beemer into the ground.
Then I'll buy a Triumph. Can't wait!! Enjoy your new ride!!

Well Im now 1030 miles in & loving it I must admit that after the first 200 I was thinking what the hell have I done I want my R back but I stuck with it & after 500 Ive changed round totally I love it its great & now the weathers turning a bit over here its just getting to make more sence.

Based on a short time with my Speed Triple, amplified by the experiences of long-time Hinkley Triumph riders, I couldn't agree with you more on the quality and what you get for the money.
My 50R has more features (electric grips) and slightly nicer fit & finish, but overall I think the S3 is a slightly better motorcycle. But...the Beemers seem to be increasing in price much quicker than the Triumphs, fueled largely by "features" that do little more than jack the price.
Performance & handling of the S3 is simply stunning, the 50R is simply...OK.
MSRP of the 50R almost 5 years ago: $9,995
MSRP of the S3 now: $9,990
But it's really apples VS oranges so if you can...have both!

No I had not seen it but the word is on the rat forum that its more of a supermoto style & they are keeping the current tiger going in its current guise (I hope so) & not altering it.

But all speculation as yet as per usual just like the 1200R
