I dinged both my front and back rims...
Damn invisible asphalt depressions that was completely invisible...
After pricing new wheels, and having them straightened, I simply did the straightening myself. Some wood blocks, nice dead-blow soft mallet, a makeshift truing stand, and a dial indicator...
A couple of hours later the wheels were straight, with no hint of a ding in the rear rim, and only the most imperceptible remants of one in the front (which was dinged far worse...). I have been riding on the straightened set now for nearly a year with no problems, and not one single person has ever noticed what is left of the front ding...
It really is easy.
Cheers!

At over $500 bucks each the straightening options sounds pretty good!
I'm getting two new wheels due to dings through my insurance ($500 deductible, damn)
