R1150R seat

Post by Dwayne »

I have an '04 R1150R with the low seat. I'm looking to replace it with either the tall seat which adds 20mm or the Rockster seat which adds 40mm. I want to do this to add some comfort without going to an expensive after market one. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with either of these seats?

I have the opposite problem, being shy of inseam. However, have you considered some of the comfort padding solutions? They're advertised to provide long-distance comfort (by strapping on their product) but I am betting that it also increases saddle height. Just a guess.

I needed a new seat just for comfort, since riding over 100 nearly brought me to tears. I did go for a Sargant seat as recommended on this web site by a few folks.

Now I'm able to run the tank dry without getting off after doing 220+ miles either on highway or something slower like the Blue Ridge Pky.

$300+ for each front and back, so they are not cheap, but WOW, they work!!

Get the Sargent front seat. Its the best aftermarket $300 you'll ever spend.

I changed from the standard R1150R low seat to the tall comfort seat...I love it...I've done heaps of all day rides without any problem....go for it.

I ordered a Sargent after an 1100 mile jaunt a few weeks ago. The monkey butt was so bad after the first 600 miles I had a hard time walking it off. After that I spent more time standing on the pegs than in the saddle. Funny, 1000 miles on my R90/6 with the stock seat was no big deal. Although, I was younger then.

1150R seat

Post by captainK »

I wouldn't be replacing the standard 1150R seat with a Rockster seat if I was looking for comfort! I just did a 1,000 km round trip on my new Rockster last weekend, and the seat gets damned hard after about 150 k's at a stretch.

I'm interested in the "comfort" seat -- I thought they were only available for the pillion? I figure that the problem's not all with the seat -- the greater the distance between the seat and the pegs, the more comfortable you'll be. Hence the number of people who buy the GS as a tourer -- but it doesn't look as good as a Rockster!

DJ Downunder -- where did you get your comfort seat? And how much did it cost?
