This new-ish vodeodi from James Wright-Roberts at Superbikesurgery in Gloucestershire, clears up the confusion caused by dear Chris Harris's original 2008 film when he discovered that if you rip out the ABS pump and brake lines and then simply lob-off the cable harness from the ABS-Pump multiway connector, your brake lights and speedo no longer work. Chris then had to withdraw the film from the Toob.

James here, typically long-winded at more than half-an-hour, gives us the lowdown on the job in great detail, working on a lovely R850R roadster.

I had the shop do it and they took a slightly different approach. Ofcourse they took out the complete iABS system( including abs sensors).
Removed all the brakelines and replaced them with straightforward steel lines to front and back wheel.
So brakehandle controls front breaks.

They used the same method for the brakelights as in film above.

Steel brake lines were € 99 and the labour for iABS ectomy and removing old brakelines and putting in the new steel lines € 350.
I have my bike serviced at a not-BMW shop. Actually they sell KTM and Kawasaki.
But the chief mechanic knows an awful lot about BMWs and they sell used BMWs, but only in first class condition.
I bought this R1150R 5 years ago when I came in for a new clutch cable on my K1100LT.
Yes you got that right, I only came in for a new clutch cable on another bike, saw this bike, fell head over heels etc and bought it.
In the past 40 years I've had a Honda CB500, CB750, Suzuki GS850G, Kawasaki Z1000, Z1100, Honda GL1200, GL1500, BMW K1100LT and now this R1150R. R1150R is the best of the lot. What a ride, love it.
And it's in an absolutely perfect condition. Previous owner only rode 8000 km in 10 years. I've ridden 37000 in 5 years. For a Beemer that's nothing.
Bought it in original state, bought all the extras myself.

A very good price for the work, I'd say, easybee.
And hey, what about that ¿ LED ? headlamp and the lovely paint job on the wheels ?
