My Rockster was purchased in 2003 Dec, I've treated it so good. It is virtually as good as new....

However, the problem is come.

1) Cylinder head of both sides have bubbles inside, I can break and remove the paint on it just like breaking potato chips
2) The folk holder seems rusting
3) The cover of brake fluid seem rusting too....

I think the problem is on the material........

And, I know many rocksters have this problem but I can't belive this happens on me.....

Do you think the dealer would replace those parts for me?

As for the paint bubbles in the cyclinders, THAT should be warranty replacement... porous casting is a DEFECT.

While you're there, ask about the other things. Can't hurt - its not like they're gonna smack you for asking, and they might agree.

My neighbor with the Orange Rockster here in San Francisco reported corrosion on his triple clamp and reports the parts were replaced under warranty. I've noticed some corrosion on mine and will report it to the service manager when I go in for my 12K service.

Either I'm lucky with my June '03 Rox [which seems unlikely], or the way I clean it has preserved it. All I do is to wash it down with a garden hose fitted with a car wash brush. Plain cold water [with no chemistry at all] and a brisk 5 miler to dry it off if the weather is dry. 14,000 miles total, riding every month of the year [I'm in England, where we use salt on the roads in winter] and there's no rust on it. However, a colleague at work has a December 04 R1150RT and there's barely a fixing on it that isn't rusty. In his case I've assumed that it's 'cause he lives on the Isle of Wight and suffers from sea salt. Incidentally, his BM dealer has suggested a stainless steel fixings set at £150!!

A wander around the second-hand bikes at your local dealer will reveal both rusted BM's and "clean" ones of roughly the same age/mileage, so something differs out there. Another possibility is that there's more than one parts supplier to BM but that seems unlikely too, as surely they'd've put two and two together by now and tracked back the rusting ones.

BMW dealer said that the corrision parts are under warranty and they are going to replace them for me. Good Service!!!

Finally, all the oxdiated parts are replaced at my 30000km service. They are:

1. Cylinder head
2. The lower part of folk
3. brake and clutch fuild cover

Very good service!

warranty is 2 years - take it in.

In Canada, the warranty is 3 years, with unlimited mileage (remembering we have ice and snow in many areas from December-March).
