Okay, you guys have been making mincemeat of me on the recent "Moto Mania Trivia" bikes, often getting ones in *MINUTES* I was sure would take at least hours, if not a day or two...
Well, here's one I would bet pretty heaby no one is going to get very quick.
It was famous... Real, real famous... Absolutely state of the art in it's day, and also defeated the giants of the industry...
Can anyone identify this one???
(Photos were slightly re-touched to hide the brand logo, but nothign that would alter the lines, etc. of the bike...)
Good Luck! (and here's hopiong no one nails it in two minutes again...

)
Cheers!

Matchless, (?) but I have no idea which model...

I'll vote for a Matchless G80. The oil tank & forks are decidedly not stock and made me think perhaps G85, but that doesn't look to me like the Rickman-inspired frame I so dimly recall ...

Already I retract that. The Matchless & AJS engines located the magneto in front of the cylinder rather than behind it, so gas dripping from the carb didn't find so handy a source of sparks. I'm now leaning toward the Ariel hypothesis.

Sten Lundin's Lito.
Edit:
Make that Sven Arwidsson's Lito, #26....Like the one Sten won the World Championship on in '61.

I believe that bike started life as a 1958 Ariel red Hunter 500cc with an aluminum head. Something similar to this.

DSKYZD nailed it. It looks like this is the page that Dallara found the pictures. Cool bike!

Yep, DSKYZD tagged and bagged it... and quick, too!
Damn! You guys are really, really good! I really thought the Lito would go at least a day or so... But you got it in just a few hours...
Hell, less than 30 of the damn things were built, though the engine design lived on in Husqvarna's and Monark's.
I truly applaud you guys!
Hmmmmmm...
I'm really going to have to think about the next one, but something tells me no matter what I come up with you folks will nail it early!
Cheers!
