I have been looking at LED brake light systems.
I'm interested in the one available from "Brake!". Does anybody have any information about this kit? Do you know who manufactures the Brake! LED light kits?

This is a very, very good choice - easy install, very effective, and it does not interfere with your ABS at all. I have had one on my bike - 5 minute install and no problems after 15000 miles of use

I installed the Brake! unit and have found it to work very well, indeed. It will definitely get you noticed by those following you in traffic. The install is just a bit tedious, getting the led unit secured in the taillight housing, but very simple. The cost might be a bit more than some alternatives, but the function is worth it in my opinion. Buying direct from Gizmomill should save you a few bucks of dealer prices.

What are you paying for the bulb - is it a replacement for a 1157 - $70?

I also have this on my bike. My riding buddies say it is VERY noticeable. Much brighter, tail and brake lights, and the pulsing brake light is definitely an attention getter. No problems and easy install, as mentioned above.

Let's face it, the R has an ittie bittie tail/brake light. I do a lot of night riding, so I was interested in anything that might help bring attention to those following me, that I was there. Installing the LED brake light really helps. You will be noticed when you hit the brakes for sure. I would buy it again, and will if I get another bike. I also installed the Kisan signal minder. Now I run the blinkers as running lights also. Makes me feel a little safer.

I searched the site and found that the price was 115.00!! Wow thats alot!
Anyway, there is another option that costs about $50.00 that is nothing more than a replacement tail-light bulb that has a flashing unit built-in. It works like the back-off light that modulates, but all you have to do is replace the original bulb with this one.
Now for the dilema, I don't remember the name of it , but I think that most bike shops have them. Just describe it like I just did and they will probably know the brand name.

I installed one.... awesome! I do alot of night riding and I have had people back way off when I stop.
An added benefit is that its a one time install, you never need to change the bulb again

Kevin - You sound like you are describing the Brake! unit, almost. The Brake! is a replacement unit which is the same size as the tail light bulb and simply replaces the light bulb. Within the brake unit is a small circuit board with dip switches, which allow you to set the length of the flash, and rather than a bulb there is a small clustrer of LED's - very bright and very powerful. If you put a flashing bulb next to the modulating Brake! unit, you should notice that the LED's are MUCH brighter than the replacement bulb.

Bob beat me to it! The device you are describing uses a standard 1157(?) bulb, the Brake! device is LED, much, much brighter, both as a standard tail light and the modulating brake light. I have ridden behind my bike when switching off with some of my riding buddies, and it is definitley an attention-getter! I think the blind could see this thing.

Another option exists, the BMW Supplemental LED Brake Light. For ~ $149. the light mounts on the license plate, and flashes 4x before remaining on. Bear in mind that the location of the lighting is important. Should you contemplate adding a luggage rack and side case system to the 1150 then the effectiveness of the rear light LED replacment diminishes. Since the license plate is unobstructed, your investment is prolonged.

Alternatively, you may wish to consider Hyper-Lite Supplemental LED Brake lights for ~ $60.
