I have always gotten what I considered good mileage compared to what I've seen others post. I got some pretty interesting numbers today on a short ride. A friend and I took off for a short jaunt before the thunder storms were predicted to hit early afternoon. Filled up here at home (93 octane-no ethanol) which is generally what I run. Here in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia we're really fortunate to ride up to the top of Afton Mt and either go south on the Blue Ridge Parkway or north on the Skyline Drive. The BRP has a 45 mph limit, the Skyline is 35 mph. Both are watched pretty closely by the rangers. I can pretty easily average 50 mpg on 55 to 60 mph roads. Rode the parkway several years ago 2-up at 45-50 mph and hit 54.6 mpg. A few months ago I rode to west Texas (about 3600 miles total) and the all day running at 70-80 with bike heavily loaded put me often well below 40 and sometimes 35 mpg. Again I try to run 91 to 93 and no ethanol if I can find it. It was difficult to find non-ethanol gas in Texas although one station had non-ethanol in 87 octane which I passed on.

Today my run up the Skyline at 35-40 and back home on county roads (45-55 mph) got me 66.7 mpg. I checked my math 3 times.

And no.......I wasn't shutting the motor off on the downhills.

At 99K you're probably right. Maybe time to stop running break-in oil.

Running on back roads (not freeway) w/hard cases I get on average (I generally run as quick as I think I can get away with) 44 to46 mpg.
Running staintune w/no cat, only other mod is the R1200 injectors.

If on a trip and loaded heavy (solo) I can w/ no wind and cruising around 80 or so about 46 to 48 mpg. If a tail wind I can get close to 50 mpg.
Head wind or quartering cross wind at same speed mid to low 40s depending how strong the wind is.

I just went to WV to Franklin to the bash and did over 6,000 miles round trip and averaged 42 mpg for the trip.

I run the cheapest gas at the pump for normal riding 87/89 octane..always have. If battling on the track or in the mountains w/fellow hooligans 91 octane or whatever the highest I can get.

Well over 270K on the Rock and counting....

I think if you running a Y pipe you'll get a little better mileage.
