It's official... no more R1150R's

Was at the dealers today and saw his updated sheet from BMW. The R1150R has been discontinued for 2006.
Speculation only on the release of an R1200R.
Some minor updates to other models
- LT gets Xenon headlight option.
- Only 1 F650 model type will be offered.
- Computer options offered for other models.

well we knew the 1150R would be gone for a 1200R. I'm sure they'll keep the bike as an entry level boxer.

Even though I swapped mine for a tiger I think its a real shame about it being discontinued its a really underrated bike that does everything well.
I just hope the s/hand prices dont drop a deal for you lads who still have one.

BMW better announce something about an affordable, lighter, and new & improved R1200R.... like, real soon. If it's as stylish as it's predecessor, I could be swayed to make a repeat purchase. Otherwise, I'm ALL OVER that F800ST!!!!!
I'm no betting man, but I would speculate that either a new R1200R will be an expensive and dolled up naked 'Standard', or that we've seen the last of the 'standard' Boxers.
If there IS something in the making along the lines of an R1200R, it's gotta be the BEST KEPT SECRET of all bikes EVER! Or exists only in our dreams......

How much cheaper is it to make a R1200R than a R1200ST? For BMW maybe $50 less in plastic bidywork. Lets figure they go all out to make it cheaper & manufacture it for $500 less than the ST, & I don't see how, but then either BMW is going to accept less margin on a R1200R (maybe justified to get riders to buy an entry boxer, of course at the possible expense of drawing some riders off more profitable boxers) or the new R1200R is going to list at about $14,000 US, or as many suspect, a T800 varient is the R1150R replacement.
Business wise seems to me the R1200R is an expensive bike for BMW, much like the R850R never made sense economically.
Of course Deano says there will be a R1200R, so I sure hope he will be right (sometimes FAR right), as he always has been in the past.
Would be ashamed if the R1200ST is discontinued. I would suspect if they made it for several years a small but dedicated owner's group would appear. BMW almost has to keep making a road oriented boxer with hard cases thats more sporty than the RT. Now if they offered the S with hard cases (as they are not doing at least the first year) and more relaxed ergos, then I could see the ST being history.
Anyhow, I don't think I'm switching bikes until at least this time next year to see if a R1200R is coming out in spring 2007. One can always hope.

I thought that BMW figured on the RS crowd migrating to the ST; is that correct Dean? They are similar bikes in terms of target rider.
Maybe the RS guys/gals ultimately didn't flock to the ST as planned.
I am upset by the abandonment of the 1200C series without introducing a true power house/hot rod variant. sad.

The ST is intended to be a sport touring mount while the new R1200S is intended to be a sporting mount and the RT is the touring mount. The ST is intended to replace the R1150RS and the R1100S. The upcomming R1200S is much more sporting oriented than the R1100S.

Alan, I think what everyone's anxious about is the new boxer..Or what they're calling the 1200 Hexhead in a naked version like our Roadsters.

Currently BMW is making nothing that is tempting me too much to do anything foolish financially. Love the GS and ST and admit a passing interest in the K roadser. But I love my bike and am content.
But . . . if they do it right . . . a R1200 Roadster might cause me some trouble!
