New bike delivery - Late March or early April 2006

Post by jonothan »

The BMW dealer called me on Friday. He got me on my mobile phone in Marks and Spencer, not really doing anything very much other than shopping, so when he told me that he wanted to finalise the options on my new 1200GSA, I abandoned the domesticity role and went down to see him.

I'm having:

1) ABS brakes
2) Alarm
3) Clear indicators
4) Heated handgrips
5) Hard pannier-case carriers

All in, this will come to just over £10,500. He will, if I wish, give me £4,000 for my R850R but I'm not sure I want to part with her. My first big bike and all that.

I got a right telling-off from Elaine for not doing the shopping but hey, what the hell, she forgave me pretty quickly.

By the way, what does the best wife in the world buy her husband for Christmas? A voucher for a two day Off-Road Motorbike Training Course at BMW's Off-Road Training Centre in North Wales. Isn't she just the best?

Whoo-Hoo! A new bike...And a new 1200 while you're at it. Way to go. I don't know if I could part with the Roadster either, but the 1200s look pretty nice.

Isn't this the same place that Boorman and McGregor trained for their Long Way Round trip?

The very same. Wasn't that the peachiest present? I was so not expecting anything like that. She is the perfect wife.

I think they're standard, DJ. They're not on the options list but on every picture I've seen of the 1200GSA.
