BMW Motorrad Berlin Factory Tour Questions

Post by domekrome »

Has anyone done this tour before?

I am in the early stages of planning a last minute trip to Berlin, and would like to do this tour, and I'm only able to provide two weeks notice to them. How much time did your request take for processing?

They don't allow cameras, or even camera phones, do they provide photos/postcards or a gift shop at the factory?

Please recommend a dealership as well, as I will be looking at helmets while I am there.

Thanks

Jason

berliner, thank you very much. I had found the tour info previously, and I have a request in. I can only hope that they get back to me about joining a pre-existing tour.

You're welcome.
I am attending a education course to become a sap developer, so I got plenty of time srufing the internet and searching for anything. So it was a great relief to do something useful.

If you need further information, tipps, whatever, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.

Hey Berliner, interesting to hear that you are becoming an SAP developer...I am project managing the deployment SAP supply chain systems at a major telecommunications company here in the US.

Well, I've been on a migration project from mas90 to SAP the last two years, until the bigger part of the project has been canceld.

But now I am looking for a new engagement and choose to attend this course, so I can fulfill an old wish and build up my programming skills.

I have been back for a little while, and thanks in no small part to Berliner (a.k.a. Alex) & his wife Ute, I had a great time in Berlin. We got together for dinner on my last night in Berlin and had great food, and lovely conversation.

I got a great deal on a leather Club jacket, as well as some Atlantis gloves, and a System 5 helmet; okay maybe I paid retail on the helmet, but it rocks! I also managed to get a good deal on the BMW soft topcase.

So, even though I didn't get to the factory, the trip was a rousing success.

Pix are here: http://flickr.com/photos/kromedome/sets ... 066000254/

Look out for a R1150R, an older GS, and a kewl KTM 950 SM.

I've been on that tour last week. % Gentlemen from Yorkshire visited us in Berlin.

The bad news there is no gift or souvenir shop. But you#ll get to see a lot and the staff is quite easy while the production is proceeding.

We've seen three phases. The preparation of the engine parts, the assembling of the engine and finally the assembling of the complete motorcycle.
What suprised me most, ther is only one line. K-, R- Models are all assembled on the same line by the same people. And they seem to be very flexible despite a high grade of automation.
