In april of 05 I ruptured 3 disks in my back and my bike an 03 r1150r got put on the center stand. well I'm back now 2 surgeries and a rather lengthy physical therapy later and I want to get back on my bike. I'm going back to the rider saftey classes to get back in the swing. though I am concerned about the bike.

It's been on a battery charger for the last year and starts fine. I also added some fuel treatment about 4 months ago. I have had to change the male/female adaptor in the fuel line but other then that it looks ok.

is there anything I should be looking for or looking to change since it has been in "storage" for such a long period of time.

now before all you wrench heads get going please bear in mind I'm not the most machinaly talented guy though I would like to do the work my self. baring speical tools.

Dave--

Glad you're recovering from the surgery. I understand some of what you have been thru. I was blessed in that I was able to dodge the back surgery bullet. Hope you do well.

Other than possibly changing the oil and making sure you're fuel is ok, one thing to possibly consider is changing the brake and clutch fluids. I understand BMW reccommends an annual change due to the possibility of moisture getting into the system and possibly causing trouble. I have bled both front and rear master cylinders on my 03 r with no difficulty. I'm sure there are some threads here somewhere on procedure. I'm sure you have covered the other stuff--tire pressure and so on. Don't know if the above is really a requirement or not, possibly you've already done it. Not really much on these machines that's all that complicated.

Best of luck to you!

Dave, First, I'm glad things have went well for you, and I hope it continues, as for the bike, check the air in the tires and "ride it like ya stole it" Den

Dave--

Almost forgot one very important thing to check on your R. Be sure to check the antifreeze level in the radiators!
