Oil Question

Hello all, I recently bought oil from BMW and they sold me Castrol Actevo 20w-50w. They told me it was better than BMW oil and that they are doing the oil changes with it now at the shop. I had 5000 miles on my 04 R1150. I changed the oil and afterwords noticed that Castrol is a synthetic/petroleum blend. Will this case any problems? I cant remember but I think I was told not to use synthetic till after 10k. Is a blend ok as compared to full synthetic? Any info would help...Thank you

I went to synthetic after only about 1K....don't worry..be happy..

That is one of those myths that's been circulating around forever. A lot of cars and bikes, such as the Vette and Triumphs come with synthetic in it straight from the factory. Don't worry you can go synthetic right away. I just bought a Kawasaki KLX250S dirt bike and at the 600 mile oil change, the parts guy recommended Golden 4 Spectro Synthetic blend. The results were fantastic! It feels like a whole different bike. Shifts whet from clunk clunk clunk to snick snick snick. It runs cooler and smoother. Of course not being a unit construction, our Roadster won't have such a dramatic improvement from Synthetic but nonetheless, it is perfectly well and good to dump premium synthetic in your new Roadster.
