Gear Ratio Rockster vs R

Post by WannaBeemer »

Local dealer has loaned me an 04 Rockster overnight to try out and I find I'm always looking for another gear, is the final gear ratio on a Rockster different than the standard R1150R? Also I think I'm too hunched over on the Rockster and now leaning towards a R.
You know your getting old when everyone new you meet looks familiar!

There are 2 different gearboxes, it seems pot luck which one you get but both bikes have essentially tha same engine setup.

Do what I did and put some Roadster bars on the Rockster. get the best of both worlds.

Both bikes can be had with and overdrive 6th gear which gives about 3000rmp at 60mph. This was a non cost option so a lot of bikes have it. If you do any miles on the road then it's worth having. Some people moan that 6th then lacks pull at low reves, but I think they have forgotten there are 5 other gears and you don't get charged extra for using them.
