Thinking about Buying MRA Vario Touring Screen for R1100R

Post by James P »

I ride a naked '99 R1100R and I'm thinking about buying the MRA Vario touring screen for naked bikes (http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/pr ... /1865/343/). I saw it for sale at the BMWMOA rally last weekend and it looked good.

Does anyone have any experience with this bike/screen combo? They sell a fitting kit for an R1100R so I know it will fit, but I want to make sure it will fit well.

TIA for any help.

Not sure what you mean by this, but...I have one on my R1150R and quite like it. It replaced the fly screen that was good only for relieving chest pressure and keeping bugs off the back of those nice shiny chrome intruments.

I don't like the looks of other screens that would have offered more protection so I thought I would try this, as it bolts right on to the flysreen brackets. I must say I'm very pleased with it's functionality and looks. As the name suggests, it has a variable laminar lip that's adjustable from smooth air flow (eliminates buffeting) to enough wind protection to eliminate or greatly reduce the effort to keep your head straight - i.e., no strained neck/jaw muscles.

I have the smoked tint and it looks good on my Atlanta Blue, but would also complement black or silver. 2 thumbs up! :smt023

MRA Vario VNB is the one I think I have on my R1150R. Once you get the angle adjusted all turbulence and wind pressure goes. Well- at my regular motorway cruising speed of 80 mph or so. I have it at max. height and still just comes to mid chest level. Looks like it uses the standard sportster screen mountings.
