Has anyone installed a Kisan SignalMinder (SM-5) and an Autoswitch (5NB) together? Is there any conflict between them when you hold the cancel button in to turn on your auxilliary lights? Does that send a "command" that reprograms the SignalMinder? I'm obviously asking something I know nothing about (so you can tell I'm not a lawyer )
BTW, I think I saw this question asked on another forum a while ago, but I can't remember where, and couldn't get any hits in these archives.
I have this set-up, and if you remember to give the cancel switch quick stabs for the running lights there will be no interference with the driving/fog lights the SM-5 controls.
I believe the cancel switch has to be held for 1.7 seconds for the autoswitch to change states - that's enough time to adjust for the running lights. If you linger too long, of course, the driving lights will come on, but you can then hold the switch for the 1.7 secs to turn them off if you don't want them on and resume the running light control you want.
I use this set up also, I like the way the system works, timing how long the cancel switch is held, is the key, but easy to do, afterall, 1.7 - 2 seconds is a long time to hold down a switch, quick stabs disengage the blinkers, I almost never even worry about disengaging the blinkers anymore. I let the unit do it's job. Holding down the blinker button for more then a quick stab (about 1 second), tells the unit to blink for only 5 seconds, just right for lane changes, hitting the blinker switch quickly tells the unit to blink for about 8 seconds, so that is what I do when making a turn from a stop. Turning the blinkers off is in the past for me now. The only thing that maybe annoying is when you want a blinker to stay on for more then 8 seconds. Of course you can always hit the blinker switch again if it shuts down sooner then you want.

When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
If i'm reading this right this switch turns the cancel button into the on-off switch for the aux. lights??....right????
Yep, and it does it in a very easy to use way. I like the idea of not having a bunch of extra switches on my handlebars, nice and clean. It is also easay to install.

I'm getting ready to plunk down for some PIAAs, and I had a question along these lines (I've already got the signalminder installed).
I read somewhere on this board that someone had trouble with the fact that you need to hold down the cancel button for over a second (he couldn't shut the aux lights off fast enough to avoid blinding oncoming cars).
Does anyone think that the 5P2 is a better solution...more of an instant on, instant off thing?
Model AS-5P2 - High Beam, Double Press. This version installs on virtually any motorcycle or car, and ties into the high beam circuit. Activate lights by flashing high-beams twice within 2 seconds. This model may be installed on the same vehicle as an AS-5P to allow independent control of two sets of lights.
I have this combo, and I can turn off the turn signal by hitting the same switch a second time. I don't normally use the cancel switch unless I want to turn on my aux. lights.
Might have been me that posted the question...anyway I wrote to Kisan and asked them if the SignalMinder and the Autoswitch played well together and the answer they gave was yes.
