So, has anybody removed the ugly orange stripes from their Rockster. Can it be easily done?

I have heard of people doing it with a hairdryer, but be prepared to see the stripes in the paint after you remove them because of fading. Something like GooGone would help too, i assume.

Also be prepared to have a REALLY ugly bike unless you paint the instrument cluster cover, the wheels, and the oil coolers. If you dont, it is reminicent of having blue doors on a red car, IMHO.

I removed the "ugly" green stripes, and left the rest of the green parts. Just peeled off the stickers and goo-goned the sticky crap. Then I traded it on a kr...

Just did it this weekend, Oil cooler covers from Beemerboneyard.com. (Great site) and Consol cover was painted at a local Body shop for minimal $$$. I am pretty happy with the results.

For photo-hosting, I use http://photobucket.com/ who provide a slightly restricted, but free of charge, service. After uploading from your PC, your gallery is displayed with an individual link for either to link to a picture or [img] to displ ... ite][/img][/color]

Thank´s big papa now i know how mine will look when i´m done,well almost anyway. I will keep two of the stripes on the tank and i have the carbonfiber oilcoolerwings. Looks realy nice in all black.

Hi sinned, all you need is the [img]tag%20at%20the%20start%20of%20your%20poto's%20web%20address%20and%20the[/img] closing tag at the end of it. Should look like the address above, but without the spaces I've inserted to stop the photo being shown.

Getting the tiger stripes off was relatively easy to accomplish with the hairdryer, but the sun-fading of the rest of the tank has left shadow stripes. It's time to go custom paint!

Finally got around to it last night. i had no fading so it looked really cool. Next to black out the rest...

You could of saved yourself a lot of trouble by just getting the roadster.R1140R

Could have but I saved a huge fat pile of cash by getting the Rockster plus, except for the ugly ornage stripse, I though the bike was absolutely cool and very different from the R. Now that I am stripe free and modded into a flat-black sport-touring UFO, I'm glad I did it.

I jus think this bike looks so beast-like when "all" the orange is blacked out. I love it.

Is there away to get rid of the stickers without a blow dryer? There's no plugins outside my apartment.

I found this awhile back. But I'm yet to do it.

The procedure consists of five steps:

1. Spritz the sticker and the area around it with a little WD-40. The WD combined with the heat will dissolve the adhesive along the edges of the sticker, making it easier to peel back.

2. Allow the WD to sit for a few moments, and then begin warming up the sticker and the immediate vicinity with your heat gun. You don't need to get the area blistering hot, and remember, you are working with a painted surface. Overheating the area can cause the paint to soften, making it easier to scratch.

3. As the sticker warms up you'll feel the surface become more pliable. When it does, start at one corner and slowly and carefully peel up the edge.

4. As the sticker lifts, apply a little heat to the leading edge. If the sticker starts to melt, ease up the heat. If it tears at some point, don't panic—you can remove the remnants later.

5. Once the sticker has been removed, wash down any leftover adhesive with WD-40, then use a clean rag to wipe the residue away.

I pulled mine off w/ my fingers and a little "goo gone". Not hard, just time consuming...

Alrrrrrright, I pulled off my stickers. Pretty easy. Took maybe 45 minutes. The ones on the tank were way harder to get off than the side panel stickers, which were easy.

Now that the stickers are off, I can still see where they were. Is there a way to get rid of that? Or do I need a paint job? "GOO GONE" didn't seem to work.

Next I'm painting all the orange fairings black. Plus I think I'll paint the headlight casing black aswell. Then powder coat the rims.............. I guess,hmmmmmmmm........ BLACK! :PPppPPPPPpp

Obviously I'll leave the frame blue. And all the grey parts grey. Oh baby, this is why I bought this bike. So much potential.

I think I'll head to the dealer this morning and discuss paint.
