Hi,
I have a silly question, but just want to make sure about something. I have one of those accessory ports on my bike. Next to it is a little terminal post looking thing. How does a battery charger hook up to the bike? Do you put the positive cable into the accessory port and the negative on the post? Or do you just plug one wire into the accessory port? I don't have a charger, so I'm just trying to imagine how it works.
The reason I ask is that my friend just bought a battery charger for his BMW R1200CL. This bike has two accessory ports. The battery charger he bought is the Battery Doc, which I believe came with a motorcycle plug. He isn't sure how to hook it up. I told him to plug it into the accessory plug, but he isn't sure about that. So I told him I'd check on it with the experts out there!
Thanks,
Casey

Beemer1150, your doing it right. The post by the accessory socket is indeed the jump start connection for the positive cable, the negative cable hooks up to a post by the throttlebody on the head. To use the port as a connection for a battery charger, you need the BMW male connector for the battery charger. They do sell them at the dealer I believe. My charger came with one, since I bought the BMW charger for gel batteries.

The jumper post isn't fitted to all 1150r, but if you dont have it on your bike it can be retrofitted. I believe it is a ten minute job, talk to the nice people at motor works they should be able to mail you the parts.
