Well,

I am thinking as a Christmas gift to myself of adding a heated seat to my beloved R1150R. I currently have the Sargent saddle on my bike. I gave them a call and they indicated that they should be able to install the heated seat option on my bike just like they display for the 2005 1150RT seat. This would be the first time they have done this for the R1150R seat so I will be sure to take before and after pics for the gang.

My question is are any current R1150R owners using a heated seat. The most likely seat that anyone would be using would be the Corbin heated seat. Thanks for any feedback

The sun heats it up real hot.. ...I'm looking for a seat cooler..

Dont have a heated seat on my R now, but if I do an aftermarket seat, it will have heat. Have tried the 1200rt with a heated seat and that is nice! Didnt realize it had a heated seat until a few minutes into the ride and my rump started to get warm. What the! I thought and then found the switch and ooooh. I like.

I was thinking about a heat seat yesterday morning on the way to work. 14F with a -5 windchill, it was so cold my right turn signal button did not work. My A$$ was even colder.

I have a sargent as well, please let me know how much sargent is charging for the refit!

I just got a Corbin seat on 12-1-06, and specifically chose the no heat option mainly because for them to add the heat they need to stitch welts in the top of the seat.

I much prefer the cleaner looks of the unpleated seat,......and i'd think it would be less prone to obsorb water if caught out in the rain. I may still get a seat cover to have with me just in case.

The black leather Corbin one piece seat looks great on the bike,......real classy and fits MUCH tighter to the gas tank area. (almosts looks watertight!) The firmness will take awhile to get used to,.......and these are supposed to get better as you break them in,......time will tell.

The angle of the Corbin fits me better as well. The stock seats (i tried both the standard and low versions) had on occasion pressed my "boys" into the gas tank area,......NOT a pleasant experience. I The Corbin angles me back to where i haven't noticed this,......yet. But i sense it won't be a problem.

Truthfully,.......i rode the bike into work on monday past and it was 25 degrees out,.......a bit chilly for sure. (8 miles each way). All i had on my legs were a pair of jeans,........and it wasn't tbad at all. The only cold body part i had was my chin,.......and if i wasn't too lazy to stop the bike and get out the scarf out of the city case even that area would have been fine.

BUT,..........i may pick up a heated Corbin at some point and try it out for those really cold days,.........say 0 to -20 degrees or so. Lower than that and i think i'll take the car!

baltm604, I am still putting together the price list from Sargent for my seat modification. The heating element and controller will set me back about $150. I figure while I am there I will increase my seat height and the contour of the seat where it meets the tank. Send me a PM and I will be glad to send you copies of any of the correspondences that I have had with Sargent.

That being said, my butt is the last thing that needs warming. My legs and hands have the biggest needs.
