Well, I think the title say it all. I have always wanted to do a little something different with my helmet and was thinking of using the winter months to send out my helmet to have it custom painted. Always wanted to do something with the cartoon characters "Underdog", "The Fantastic Four" and "Speed Racer". If anyone can provide any good links to custom painters it would be greatly appreciated.

I too love custom style helmets. I currently have a Shoei RF1000 Pascal Picotte in Orange.

This past weekend I was talking with an artist friend of mine and we are working on doing custom art work on a helmet. We will take a solid white helmet and wet sand it until it is scuffed properly. Then, the custom art will go on top of that. Once the artwork is complete, I will clearcoat the entire helmet to protect the art. The trick is finding paint that is compatible with the clearcoat.

In my personal opinion, the helmet does not have to match the bikes color scheme. Its a statement all its own!

Mucho $$$$, if done by a pro. Can cost more than the helment.

I had my son's hockey goalie mask airbrushed by a guy in NJ. The paint job cost more than the mask but the work was outstanding. Flying pucks couldn't ruin the finish.

Mike's Airbrush in the Berlin Farmer's Market in Berlin NJ. He has a T-shirt airbrushing store there and garage business at another location doing custom Harley paint jobs. The guy is an artist and some of the most incredible motorcycle paint jobs in my area are his work.

He does not have a website, but here is his info:
