Been reading only positive things about the Parabellum Scout. Is there any negative feedback from anyone? Even if its minor? I'd like to here it all before I spend the $$.

I have the largest screen they make. Super tour version. Check the web site. I must say it offers the most wind protection I have seeen from any screen I have used. I think it is a 23" version.

I'm about to order one too. The only negative thing I've been able to find is the one you already know--they're pricey.

In years past, I always installed a Rifle fairing on my Suzuki fours. They were extremely well made, aerodynamically designed, and effective at blocking the wind without creating turbulence and buffeting. Good value and an excellent product. I mention Rifle because Charley Perethian, the founder of Parabellum, was the fairing designer at Rifle. The guy's been in the business for decades, which is why I have no concerns about the basic design or construction integrity of the Scout.

I do wish Charley had remembered the pricing structure at Rifle a little better though. $700 for a color-matched quarter-fairing with a universal mount is a bit steep.

I just installed one, yesterday and took it out for a short ride. Wow does this thing work. No buffetting and with a little more tweaking of angles I an sure it will provide bug free rides. Can't tell about that as it is 38 degrees in the mountains of Maryland. First ride in January in Garrett County in many years.
I emailed them and got a prompt courteous reply answering my questions and they are sending me the plastic caps for free. I'll let you know about the bugs in May!!!

I have over 40k on my scout with the 13" with no problems.

Tell me what the plastic caps arefor

They are just covers for the screws that go through the fairing. Not a big deal but still kind of them to send them along for free.

I'm very seriously considering purchasing one. Could one fo you who now have one your bike post a photo taken from the rider's position? Parabellum deosn't have one on their site and the ones I've seen on this site are from the front or side.

I've had one on my rockster since I bought it last April...I've been very pleased. The "tall Screens" for the rockster come in 16,18,and 20 inch height..after much thought and measuring I chose the 20" size. I'm 5.11 with a 30 inch inseam, and I do think I could have went with the 18 or even lower 16" screen and got as much coverage, but better too much than not enough. The screen leaves a gap between the Rocksters fly screen and wind shield, and I think this lets air slip in and raise the low pressure zone behind the screen making for a smoother ride. I road to church this last sunday morning in 43 deg. temps ....no problem. The company support was outstanding with knowledgable folks answering the phone every time. SHipping was fast and instructions easy to read. My only worry is when I go to put on handguards, I'll need to add barbacks or spacers to move the windscreen forward. Coy

I've had a scout on my '04 since it was nearly new. I run the hsortest "sport" windshield, 13" I think. It provides a nice-sized envelope to the extent that I've never been tempted to supplement it with a taller shield. There is no head buffeting and I've only experienced any type of front end buffeting on rare occasions. The winddspeed, traffic, gusts and direction have to all be just right (or wrong) and then I've had minor buffeting.

Pricey but worth it.

I've had a BMW touring shield and the large 23 inch Parabellum tour shield on my Roadster. After both, (at 6 feet 3 inches), I was disappointed. I switched to a Scout more than a year ago and it's the best move I've made (especially in combination with Aeroflow's tank wings which keep "dirty" air from coming up over the oil coolers and and buffeting my head. I bought my Scout with two windshields, a 10 inch for summer and around town, and a 20 inch for the best protection in colder weather and when on road trips. Charley provides one sized windshield with the Scout and, at the time of purchase, you can buy a second size for $50 (half off). I agree that $700 is pricy but, if you can scrape it together, you won't be sorry! Bob

I normally stay on top of the Parabellum threads here - as I too am debating one - and was just thinking about it tonight on my way home in the rain. You guys also shouldn't worry so much about the price, I'll have to pay import duty on mine and $55 shipping too ...

That'd be pretty much what my 850R would look like, with the oil coolers down off the tank etc. Hmmm ...

Brenda at Parabellum confirms the bike in the mono photo has a 10" screen - I think I've made my mind up at last, that's the one for me.
